The Specialist Engineering Contractors (SEC) Group has today welcomed and pledged its support for Crossrail Limited’s (CRL) procurement strategy and policy. a

Speaking on behalf of the SEC Group, its President, Lord O’Neill, said:

“We are delighted that Crossrail is embracing an enlightened procurement approach that promotes teamworking and early engagement with the supply chain where most of the value lies”.

Lord O’Neill added:

“As a leading representative organisation in the construction industry we have offered Crossrail all our help and support in its endeavours to reduce waste in the delivery process thereby achieving efficient outcomes for the whole programme”.

CRL  is introducing a variety of initiatives aimed at improving teamworking such as the use of the NEC contract – which demands pro-active management of the delivery process – and project bank accounts which provide a “pot” out of which all members of the team are paid.

“We should be working closely with Crossrail to help them achieve their overall objectives” commented Trevor Hursthouse, SEC Group’s Chairman.
